「Original by Robert とは…」
1942年にRobert Levyと他2人で、3人がNYで創業。
1960年ロバート・オリジナルというブランド名を変更した。
花・果物植物や、昆虫・動物モチーフのエナメル作品が
多いが、ラインストーンやパール、クリスタル等を使用した
繊細な細工のジュエリーなどもとても高い人気がある。
「Original by Robert」というパレット型の刻印使用。
イヤリングはRobertという刻印を使用。1979製造終了。
The company that made Original by Robért jewelry was founded as The Fashioncraft Jewelry Co. in New York, New York. The business was formed by partners Robert Levy, Irving Landsman, and David Jaffee in 1942, and the name of the company was changed to Robért Originals Inc. around 1960.
Levy is known as the designer for the firm. Adding an accent to his first name in the company’s moniker was done to give it a European flair. Many collectors refer to the jewelry as Robert, knowing that Levy was the designer, and there is no French connection.
The hand-manipulated pieces marked Original by Robért are often compared to some Miriam Haskell designs, Eugene, and DeMario jewelry since they all have a similar aesthetic. However, over the company’s time in business designs by Fashioncraft and then Original by Robért varied more widely and included cast or soldered jewelry heavily decorated with stones of various types or enameling. Jewelry made during the Ellen Designs period was typical of 1980s styles, including large dangle and door knocker earrings.
